Audience:
The targeted audience for this book is young adults who enjoy art, poetry, and literature. The pairing of drawings and text mirrors a scrapbook format which also aims to draw in people who are interested in journaling, reading, and creative story development.
Challenge:
Making each spread its own unique theme while ensuring that the pattern is repeated on each page required strategic placement of images and text. Each page needs to have various levels of hierarchy and colors to keep the viewers engaged. The sketches and type should also be integrated in a way so that they give meaning and value to each other.
Concept & Strategy:
The literature used on each page consists of a mixture of poetry and music lyrics that go along with the theme and sketches displayed on each page. The colors are pulled from the drawings to create a balance, while the catch phrases communicate the theme. The usage of negative space allows the reader to quickly move through the spread.
