Art in SLO Motion
Objective:
Design a promotion brochure and poster for the graphic design concentration in the Art and Design Department at Cal Poly.
Tools:
Illustrator InDesign
Skills:
Typography Layout
Role:
Graphic Design
Audience:
The targeted audience is prospective and incoming high school students and their supporters who are looking to learn more about the graphic design concentration at Cal Poly. It serves as a nice introduction for anyone who is interested in learning more about the creative program and what it has to offer.
Challenge:
The brochure and poster should ensure that the content is informative and the imagery enhances the contents of the text. It should encourage prospective students to want to enroll in the program. The brochure should bridge the gap between what the targeted user already knows, and showcase additional facts about the department. The readers should experience the Graphic Design program in a printed format as they read through the brochure and poster.
Concept & Strategy:
The design speaks to the “Learn by Doing” Cal Poly philosophy and uses various type treatments and levels of hierarchy with different font weights, styles, and colors to help move the reader through the design. The image of the Art and Design building helps readers build that connection with the department before stepping foot on campus.
